What is a sport:
A sport is an activity that is competitive, it requires some particular set of skills and physical abilities to be carried out. It is also an activity that involves physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and is often undertaken competitively, and it is capable of achieving a result.
Types of Sports
- Baseball: It is a type of sport played by two team of nine players on a diamond shaped circuit of four bases.
- Handball : It is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team.
- Netball: Is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. It is similar to the basketball although, the rules, equipment and team numbers are different.
- Cricket: This is a sport which is played between two teams of eleven players each who score points. This is done by hitting the ball across the boundary, or by running between two sets of three small wooden posts called wickeks.
- Athletics :This is the sport competing in track and field events, including running races and various competitions in jumping and throwing.
- Hockey : It is a sport in which two teams play against each other by trying to manoeuvre a ball or a puck into the opponent’s goal using a hockey stick.
- Polo: It is a horseback mounted team sport. It is one of the world’s oldest known team sport. The game is played by two opposing teams with the objective of scoring goals by using a long-handled wooden mallet to hit a small hard ball through the opposing team’s goal.
- Football: This is a game played by two teams of eleven players using a round ball. Players kick the ball to each other and try to score goals by kicking the ball into a large net.
- Basketball: It is a game played between two teams of five players in which goals are scored by throwing a ball through a netted hoop fixed at each end of the court.
