AGRICULTURAL LAND AND REFORMS.

LAND TENURE :land tenure is defined as the system of land ownership or land acquisition.
A farmer cannot do without land because both crops and livestock are raised on land.

TYPES OF LAND TENURE SYSTEM. (1)COMMUNAL LAND TENURE. In this system, land belongs to the community which may mean village, kindred or even clan. Every male adult belonging to the community is entitled to a portion of land for farming. No person has full right to ownership of the land in terms of using it to sell or obtain loans. This system is so disadvantageous that people that are not from that community cannot be given any portion for farming.

(2)INDIVIDUAL LAND TENURE.
This is a system where the land belongs to an individual. He may have acquired it through purchase or inheritance. The individual can use the land for any purpose at all whether for agricultural production, lease, rent,or out right sale.

(3)LAND TENURE ON INHERITANCE.
Here, the land is passed from father to his offsprings, from generation to generation. The owner of the land, can give out the land, or sell it, he can also use it as collateral to obtain loan.
