TOPIC: POPULATION GROWTH AND FOOD SUPPLY
In developed countries, food Production has kept up with population growth but in developing countries, especiablly in Africa, food Production has not kept up with population growth. Therefore, food is available in large amount to most people in developed countries but not readily available to many people in developing countries.

POPULATION GROWTH AND REPRODUCTION
Population growth rate is affected by two factors;

1. Birth rate

2. Death rate.

        The rate of population growth is affected by increase in birth rate and decrease in death rate.
Normally, the birth rate is higher than the death rate and this results in increase in population. Decrease in death rate is as a result of improvement in sanitation, drugs and medical care.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AVAILABILITY OF FOOD AND HUMAN POPULATION

A population is active when sufficient food is available. Such people can work hard and make good use of their intelligence. They can improve the economy of their country. They enjoy high standard of living since most of them will be educated. They understand the importance of birth control and use of family planning methods.
In developed countries, inspite of adequate food supply, the rate of population growth is controlled.
In developing countries where people do not get sufficient food, people are weak and unhealthy and are easily attacked by diseases. Such people cannot work productively, the economy of the country will be affected badly and the standard of living and education will be low. The people will not understand the importance of birth control as solution to their problem..
Normally, animal population decreases with shortage of food supply.
